MICHAEL AND D'ANGELO
Before you come to Jacó Beach, or start touring Costa Rica, do as much on-line homework as you can.

Part of the pre-trip research should include the fun and very informative series of videos produced by D’Angelo and Michael Alan.

This dynamic duo arrived here almost 4 years ago from Las Vegas, Nevada and are now digitally disseminating their wisdom from their experiences in the land of Pura Vida.

There are 60 short videos (as of today), so we recommend watching the Quick Tips #1-4 as a starting point.

Topics covered in #1-4 range from basic warnings about the intense solar rays, travelers checks and toilet paper to special blue pay phones that legally rob you!

There is a lot of Costa Rican tourist information on the internet, some of which is actually wrong!

After meeting these guys on Twitter and checking out their work, we are convinced that Michael Alan and D’Angelo’s videos are great research tools, although because of their “edginess” they may not be for everyone.

They are short, to the point, accurate, educational and entertaining!

The following links are for the Quick Tips-

ADD 1 TO SHOPPING TOUR  E-mail

ImageMolas…what are they and why do I care?  Molas didn't matter until this week.  It sounded like something to eat made out of bean paste.

Now though, it can be stated that Molas are unique, beautiful and exquisitely embroidered cloth panels, painstakingly produced with very small needles by women of the Indigenous Kuna people of the San Blas Islands of Panama.

These multi-layered panels take anywhere from 2 weeks to 6 months to make and are now being produced in one souvenir shop close to the Jacó Beach area by Kuna women; actually on site!

This may be the “Mother of all Souvenir Shops” in this area, because of the quality and “one-of-a-kind” uniqueness that you are able to purchase.  These beautiful Molas are used for an assortment of wonderful gift items, including shirts, purses, wall art, wallets, etc.  Image

The Kuna women have been producing their traditional designs for generations as body art, but it was not until the arrival of the Spanish settlers that they transferred their designs to cloth.

Jacosun has now officially added this special place to its list of “can’t miss” shopping tours.  For questions, email This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it .  Thanks to Teri (yo-yoinparadiseblogspot.com) for sharing one of her favorite places.

EL CABALLO REY  E-mail

ImageAlways looking for family tours and activities, Jacosun is adding El Caballo Rey to its list of Tours that can be recommended for everyone.  Located just a few minutes north of Jacó this dinner show is described as “Equestrian Dinner Theatre”, and is unique and special.

While you sit at your table, enjoying your French and Spanish cuisine you are surrounded by some very large horses, allowing the avid horse lover some interaction with these Andalusions in their stalls waiting impatiently to perform.

The restaurant serves as a raised stage that looks out over the performance area.  The horses proudly perform for their guests as if they know they are in the spotlight.  The Andalusian horse looks like a regular horse on steroids, with powerful wide rear thighs.

Head Trainer and El Caballo Rey co-owner Manuel Trigo puts these beautiful animals through their paces, demonstrating Classical and High Dressage.  Manuel and his wife Dominique care for and train all of these amazing animals, whose ancestries have been traced back to 25 B.C.

Known as the Pura Raza Espanola (Pure Bred Spanish Horse), the Andalusian is one of two sub breeds of the Iberian and related to the Lusitano breed.  These powerful horses were preferred mounts of royalty because of their beauty and well known battlefield performance.
